ROAD NAMING COMMITTEE
SEMINOLE COUNTY LAW LIBRARY
TUESDAY, MAY 15, 2012, 5:15 P.M.
The Seminole County Board of Commissioners Road Naming Committee held a meeting on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in the Courthouse Law Library. Those present were Vice-Chairman Roger Lane and Commissioner Scott Miller. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss road naming procedures prompted by a citizen request to rename Saddle Club Road as John W. Rambeau Road.
Vice Chairman Lane provided a copy of a sample ordinance to all in attendance and read the Commemorative Street Ordinance proposal aloud.
Vice Chairman Lane reiterated that a commemorative street name does not change the official street name or address of any property along the road. Commissioner Miller provided the example of Highway 84, also known as Hugh D. Broome Parkway.
Commissioner Miller stated a few changes were needed to the sample ordinance and also received some recommendations by those in attendance. The revised sample ordinance will be submitted to County Attorney Mills for revision.
Vice Chairman Lane requested sharing the cost for the signs and Ms. Millie Rambeau stated she would pay for the signs.
The proposed ordinance will be presented to the board at their next meeting.
Ms. Millie Rambeau thanked the commissioners for their time and support.
