BUDGET WORK SESSION

FOR FY-13

SEMINOLE COUNTY GRAND JURY ROOM

THURSDAY, MAY 17, 2012 1:00 P.M.

 

 

The Seminole County Board of Commissioners held a FY-13 Budget Work Session on Thursday, May 17, 2012 in the Courthouse Grand Jury Room.  Those present were Chairman Dell Shingler, Vice-Chairman Roger Lane, Commissioner Darius Culverson, and County Manager/Clerk Paula Granger.  Commissioner Scott Miller and Commissioner Brenda Peterson were absent.

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Dell Shingler.

The invocation was offered by Vice Chairman Roger Lane.    

Sheriff Elliott presented some cost reductions in his proposed budgets.  After a discussion of staffing needs, Sheriff Elliott will be replacing one deputy and one jailer.  911 Director Whaley requested two additional staff members to allow two dispatchers per shift.  The item was not approved.

EMS Director Toby Roland discussed the work schedule for EMS personnel.  Director Roland will look at surrounding counties and review alternative work schedules.

Magistrate / Probate Judge Amos Sheffield discussed his proposed budgets and provided some revisions.  Judge Sheffield requested and received approval to add a Public Defender.  The effectiveness of the position will be evaluated after six months.      

Superior Court Clerk Earlene Bramlett provided explanations for her expense budget.  She also gave an update on the inclusive jury selection process that will begin July 1, 2012.

The Board continued looking at line items and making adjustments on the proposed FY13 Budget. 

The next meeting will be held Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Grand Jury Room. 

Commissioner Lane made the motion to adjourn, Commissioner Culverson provided the second, all in favor, motion passed.
