SEMINOLE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

CALLED MEETING

SEMINOLE COUNTY COURTHOUSE, SUPERIOR COURTROOM

2ND FLOOR

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2ND, 2014

7:00 P.M.

 

The Seminole County Board of Commissioners held a Called Meeting on Thursday, October 2nd, 2014 in the Superior Courtroom.  Those present were Chairman Chuck Orrick, Commissioner Roger Lane, Commissioner Shelia Williams, and County Manager/Clerk Paula Granger.  Vice Chairman Peterson and Commissioner Culverson were absent.

 

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Orrick.   

 

The invocation was given by Commissioner Williams followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. 

 

Roll call was conducted and a quorum was established. 

 

Sheriff Elliott and Mr. Richard Williams were in attendance.

 

County Manager Granger stated the millage as presented to the Board and set by the Public Library and Board of Education as follows:

A motion to adopt the millage was given by Commissioner Lane and a second by Commissioner Williams, all in favor, motion passed. 

 

County Manager Granger provided an explanation of budget adjustments.  The overall amount of the budget did not change.  Employees under the direction of Sheriff Elliott and County Manager Granger were given a 3% increase in pay; other employees were given increases earlier in the year and were not included in the amended budget.  County Manager Granger requested the board consider compensating Sheriff Elliott for his additional responsibilities as Director of Probation and Director of 911 in the amount of $5,000 annually for each.  Sheriff Elliott discussed his role for each of the departments and was appreciative of consideration by the Board to increase his salary. 

 

Also included in the amended budget were changes to EMS since privatization on July 1, 2014.  Commissioner Williams made a motion to adopt the Amended Budget with the rate increases including additional compensation for Sheriff Elliott as Director of Probation and Director of 911 in the amount of $5,000 annually for each.  A second was given by Commissioner Lane.  All in favor, motion passed

 

Adjournment:

With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned on a motion by Commissioner Lane and a second by Commissioner Williams.  All in favor, motion passed.
