SEMINOLE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
BUDGET WORK SESSION
SEMINOLE COUNTY COURTHOUSE, GRAND JURY ROOM
FRIDAY, MAY 20th, 2016
The Seminole County Board of Commissioners held a Budget Work Session on Friday, May 20th, 2016 in the Grand Jury Room. Those present were Chairman Roger Lane, Vice Chairman Chuck Orrick, Commissioner Shelia Williams, Commissioner Darius Culverson, Commissioner Brenda Peterson, and County Manager / Clerk Paula Granger.
Chairman Lane called the meeting to order.
Sheriff Elliott and EMA Director Travis Brooks both met with the Board and discussed their budget(s). A review of the overtime hours indicated excessive hours worked in various departments under the direction of Sheriff Elliott. The dispatch area is currently operating with two employees who are not certified to work alone. One has to retake a test and another was recently hired and has to take a test. Both shifts are being covered with overtime. Another issue is security at various events and during court. This type of coverage needs to be tracked in order to accurately forecast labor needs. Sheriff Elliott will begin keeping track of all “extra” time being worked.
The Board reviewed all Special Funds, Transfer Station, Recreation, and remaining general fund accounts.
The next Budget Work Session was scheduled for Thursday, May 26th, 2016 at 9:00 a.m.
