SEMINOLE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

BUDGET WORK SESSION

SEMINOLE COUNTY COURTHOUSE, GRAND JURY ROOM

TUESDAY, MAY 9, 2017

2:30 P.M.

The Seminole County Board of Commissioners held a Budget Work Session on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 in the Grand Jury Room.  Those present were Chairman Shelia Williams, Vice Chairman Brenda Peterson, Commissioner Mark Spooner, Commissioner Darius Culverson, and County Manager / Clerk Paula Granger.

Chairman Williams called the meeting to order.

The focus of the work session was compensation for employees under the direction of Sheriff Elliott.  Wages submitted by the Sheriff for consideration by the board reflected an increase in hourly pay ranging from .88% to 33.33%.  A list of current wages for the Police Department was reviewed and Sheriff Elliott commented Chief Blue indicated wages for city officers were going to be increased by an additional 9%.  This could create a problem retaining county deputies and some had already received offers from the city.

Anne Grice requested an adjustment to wages in the amount of $114,415 for the Tax Assessors budget.  This change reflects an increase in wages Anne received for passing the Appraiser 3 test and additional compensation for the two additional office employees.

With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned on a motion made by Commissioner Culverson and a second by Commissioner Spooner.  All in favor, motion passed.
