EMERGENCY CALLED MEETING

SEMINOLE COUNTY COURTHOUSE

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2017

The Seminole County Board of Commissioners participated in an Emergency Called Meeting on Saturday, September 9, 2017 for the purpose of declaring a Local State of Emergency for Seminole County in response to Hurricane Irma. Those participating by phone were Chairman Shelia Williams and Commissioner Culverson. Present at the meeting were Vice Chairman Brenda Peterson, Commissioner Jeffrey Braswell, and County Manager Paula Granger.

County Manager Granger provided the following information to Board members:

A State of Emergency was issued by Governor Nathan Deal on September 6, 2017, and was expanded to include Seminole County on September 8, 2017. Due to the predicted path of Hurricane Irma and the National Weather Service issuing a Tropical Storm Watch, the threat to residents in Seminole County has increased significantly. In response to continued weather forecasts indicating worsening conditions, Seminole County EMA has requested a Local State of Emergency be issued.

Vice Chairman Peterson made a motion to declare a Local State of Emergency beginning Sunday, September 10, 2017. A second was given by Commissioner Braswell. All in favor, motion passed.

With there being no further business, the meeting was adjourned on a motion by Vice Chairman Peterson and a second by Commissioner Culverson. All in favor, motion passed.
