Operating under the Georgia Revenue
Codes, the Board of Tax Assessors is responsible for the
appraisal and assessment of all Residential, Commercial, and
Personal Property in Seminole County. Property is appraised at
100% of its fair market value and assessed at 40% of that value.
The Board of Tax Assessors is a three member body of appointed
citizens of Seminole County, who meet the 1st Tuesday
of each month. A Chairman is elected on an annual basis. The
Board of Tax Assessors hires a Chief Appraiser and Assessment
Administrator.
All public information is available for review, and copies may
be obtained for a nominal fee.
Real Estate Property Tax Returns are received in this office
from January 1st through April 1st of each
year. All returns must be POSTMARKED by the U.S. Postal Service
no later than April 1st.
If you feel your appraised value is incorrect, you may file a
Property Tax Return to declare what you believe to be the fair
market value of your property. Our staff will review all
Returns, and if we accept your Return Value, that value will be
used for property tax billing that year. If we do not accept
your Return Value, we will mail an assessment change notice to
you, which will give you 45 days to file an appeal. Assessment
Change Notices are mailed to property owners whose values have
changed, in mid-April of each year.
